Once again, I joined in the UK Letterpress Christmas Card exchange. This year Phil Treble passed the baton to Jacqui Sharples, of Print for Love of Wood fame, and she expertly organised the swap with over 20 printers. December was a busy month…

I knew that this year I wanted to create something with movable type, and make it visually interesting. Early on I decided that I’d use my 24pt Gill Cameo type that came with my Peerless press. I’ve been meaning to use it for a while, and this was my chance. I wanted the phrase that I chose to make up the outline of a Christmas tree with the type. It only just fit into my little Adana chase.

The cards were printed in green and dusted in a festive gold bronzing powder to offset the message.

Some great cards were received, there are some talented folk around… I wonder if Andy will do the ‘No L’ card again this year… I ran out of space and never seemed so popular! Bring on 2014…

Then I ran out of cards, and had none to give to my family. Already dissed the Gill Cameo so did a quick wood type card to make up the numbers.
